We are along the Madison River outside the park for a couple of days trying to film an osprey catching a fish. So far no real success there but I have been filming some cute foxes you’ve seen before, and will see again, and this bald eagle. I have spent a lot of time filming ospreys and bald eagles. One of the things I want to film is them taking off from a tree or nest. I’ve spent hours holding on to my camera ready to pan it in which ever direction the bird goes. With ospreys they give you clues when they are getting ready to fly but I just today figured out one semi-reliable way to figure out when an eagle is going to fly. To put it delicately when the eagle relieves itself it usually flies within a minute or so. I am so happy! It took me about 5 years to figure that out.
