The Bison Rut in Soda Butte Valley

Soda Butte Valley
Soda Butte Valley

The bison rut is in full swing now and the bison pulled a great stunt on me.  Technically, I can’t go home until Friday, when my landlord leaves, but I decided to stay out east in order to avoid the rut and the traffic jams.  Well, those bison all moved east and are covering Soda Butte Valley, as you can see in the pic above.

They are great fun with all of their groaning and chasing the girls and it isn’t bad to sit and watch them and the wolves – or watch for the wolves.  So, life is good.

Here are a few images of the bulls.

Remember, if you want to photograph a bison, pull over so the rest of the world can go about its business.  Sit and enjoy them for awhile.
