One More Heart in Nature

Several days ago I posted a photo of a pair of damselflies mating. Their bodies formed a heart shape and I wondered then if that is where we got the idea for a heart shape equalling love. Well I found another one today in Yellowstone. The pronghorns haven’t started their rut yet but this guy was with 6 females. Maybe he is already starting his harem? He definitely already has his Valentine heart ready.

  1. Nice! I’ll look for hearts too!

BTW, I’ve followed your blog for over a year, and as an outdoor photographer ( very semi-pro) and outdoorsman admire your work and outdoor ethics.

I’m in the Park now, and as a result of what I’ve learned from you, 4 eves ago came across the grizzly on the bison carcass at Trout Creek, Hayden Vly. Went back before dawn so I could listen to the bear’s fearsome growl, coyote’s yip, and wolve’s Howl, then enjoyed the show all morning. Most enjoyed watching the big black Canyon alpha craftily stealing some meat working in concert with a raven – inter-species cooperation.

Haven’t seen a wolf in 35 years, since a 6 week, 600 mi canoe expedition to the Arctic Ocean with a friend who now lives in Cooke – we saw 30 plus and 1 Barrens Grizzly during that trip.

Understand about allergies – 2 wks ago I was ambulances to the ER w an almost lethal reaction – now carry an Epi-pen. Get better and I’ll say hi if I see you…in the park… Thanks for sharing your great work and love of the animals… Bob

    1. Bob, I am not sure if you were meaning to leave a message for Judy or for myself (Deby) but will be out and about in the southern portion tomorrow. Hope you are having a good time.
