Heard from my dedicated friend Peter Gentes who was down in Hayden today, looking for the Wapiti pack and grizzly bears.  In the rain, no less!  If you go by Grizzly Overlook look for the guy with the big lens and the SUV with all kinds of storage boxes on it and say hi – he is one heck of a nice guy and it is so wonderful to get credible information out of that beautiful valley.

At saddle north of grizzly overlook/point in Hayden valley to spot on the wapiti lake pack. – 7:11 – 7:15am 2 black pups on berms left of Christmas tree sand pit. – 7:11 – 7:15am 755M spotted (collar scene) heading west along creek bed from peninsula of trees to west heading towards Alum creek area – 7:39am gray pup visible for 15 seconds moving left below rendezvous lost in dip, reappeared in creek gravel bed drinking water and spooking geese. Appeared to catch a ground squirrel and moved up into sage then lay down or dropped into a draw at 8:03am – 8:19am – 8:35am big gray pup moving thru meadow to right to left towards peninsula of trees. – approx. 9:30am 755M (alpha male) was sighted in alum creek on west side of road in Hayden. That explains where he went after we lost home heading west in the trees. – little visibility this evening in Hayden. Rain drops are getting thick! Also seen: – grizzly on west side of road in alum creek area of Hayden valley in morning. – grizzly seen 1 mile south of grizzly overlook in Hayden valley about 400 yards out from road in afternoon. Have a good evening, Pete
