Blaze and cubs

All of the way down to 25 degrees in Lamar Valley.  I believe that winter has arrived – again!

Reportedly the three Junctions were on the bison carcass at Slough, pre-dawn, but left before most people arrived.

There were signals on the Lamars but no sightings until later in the morning when Twin was seen heading towards the den area.

Some said that things were a little slow down south and so a number of people headed north in hopes of photographing the black bears or some action on the carcass.  And, so there was a lot of racing back in forth and in between some found a badger and a fox.  I think everyone but myself saw that fox as I was out in Lamar looking for the wolves.

It got a little busy and hectic for me and so I headed south.  Along the way another photographer told me that he had missed Blaze and her two COY by minutes and so I didn’t have much hope of seeing them.  But, it was nice to head that way and hope.

I did not know that the southern entrance opened on Friday, which was why we had visits from a lot our Teton friends.  Will have to go further south myself.

As luck would have it Blaze was out when I arrived, back in a field and the cubs were hidden, though I did eventually get to see them closer.  Cute!  Fun!  One stands and the other rolls.

It wasn’t long before everyone who had gone north had arrived, as word must have traveled quickly in that direction.  Glad that I just decided to go on a journey or I would have missed out.

On the way home there was a grizzly at the side of Mary Mountain but after driving to Lake Butte Overlook and back that was about all I saw that way.  Blaze and cubs was enough.  There was about 100 or more cars lining the road so she does seem to be the big show to the south.
