Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout

Yellowstone cutthroat trout are some of the most beautiful fish anywhere. Because lake trout were introduced into Yellowstone Lake in the 1980s they aren’t nearly as common as they used to be but because of the hard work of a lot of people the lake trout population is down and the cutthroat are coming back. We stood along the Yellowstone River today and watched fish rise to caddis flies and some mayfly spinners. I used to spend a lot of time fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat trout in the Yellowstone River. Today I “fished” with a camera. I find it just as challenging as real fishing and way more rewarding. I don’t have to hurt the fish and I get a film clip when I am finished.
