I think Deby will be posting a story about pikas soon but I wanted to go ahead and post one anyway on the theory that you can never see enough pikas. I don’t really have much of a story about them other than I really love pikas so any time we find them we spend lots of time shooting them.
I have a lot of pika photos and since I love the little guys I wanted you to see some of them.
We always joke that I should title a movie I do about trout as “Trout I’ve Known and Loved”, a movie about elk as “Elk I have Known and Loved. Well I finally gave in and titled this one “Pika I’ve Known and Loved” mostly because I always love what I am shooting, especially pikas.
We’ve seen them several places in Rocky Mountain National Park and in Yellowstone. These guys live in Yellowstone.
As you probably already know pikas are rabbits superbly adapted to cold environments. They don’t hibernate and they spend their summers collecting plants and putting them in haystacks and their winters under the snow living off their haystacks.
If you would like to see more photos of pikas, as well as read many stories of other Yellowstone animals, with lots of photos, go to www.yellowstonedaily.com.
Our photos are available at www.vernelehmberg.com where you will find over 4,000 photos from Africa to Yellowstone.
More great images and I was going to do a post but was too tired to think straight so never got it done. Thank you for stepping up and helping out while I got the car stuff straight.
You are most welcome Deby. You should post your pikas. Never too many pika photos!
Very very cute pikas! Love them all.
Thank you so much Ilse!!
