I’ve been going through my footage looking for some specific clips and, as usual let myself get side tracked. I found a few things I would like you to see but have forgotten to post. Today I’ll focus on the cross foxes in the Tetons with other animals to come over the next week or so.
In case you missed my first post of these foxes here are some of the details of their lives. Cross foxes are a type of red fox but with different colors. The are mostly black and tan with the colors literally forming a cross shape across their shoulders. These cross foxes lived under the former CCC mess hall near the Exum Climbing School in the Tetons. When they were first discovered the mess hall was being renovated. The work crew stopped their work so they wouldn’t disturb the fox family but they left all of their building materials inside the mess hall. When the babies played in the building we could hear boards being knocked over, nails spilled, etc. The fox kits did make a mess but they had fun.
Several days after we got to the Tetons the foxes moved their den to some new, unknown location. Foxes do that but this family may have done it because a pine marten kept coming in and stealing their food. We fell in love with them and hope they are happy in their new digs.
Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your kind words.
