In the early spring of 2014 as a herd of bison walked around Blacktail Ponds a yearling knocked a newborn baby into one of the ponds. Every year adult bison fall into these ponds and die. The sides are so steep they can’t get out. Watch what happens below.

Judy that is such amazing footage. It had me in tears watching it and cheering when it got out. I’m sure as an adult now it is stronger than ever from going through such drama in the first hours of life.
Judy, what incredible footage. Even already knowing the story, I got terribly upset watching the calf. Great job. I just know that calf made it and is a tough one now.
Thank you Deby! I was so happy to see that calf out of the water I didn’t notice how badly it was shaking until I looked at the footage later. It was a very close call. He proved his toughness by getting out. I would love to know him as an adult.
